Before you write

• If you are reporting an error, please tell us the title of the article and the passage concerned.
• If you are suggesting a topic, a short description of what you would like explained is ideal.
• We cannot offer personal advice about your own circumstances.
• Please do not send original documents or anything of value by post.

Response times

We aim to reply to correspondence within ten working days. Some questions take longer if they require research or a review of an existing article. We do not share your details with anyone outside our editorial team, and you can read more about how we handle personal information in our privacy policy.

Press and permissions

If you would like to quote one of our guides at length or republish material, please write to us first with details of where it will appear. Short quotations with a clear credit to Originals do not need permission.
